On Monday, October 26th, a strong earthquake with magnitude of 7.5 struck northeast Afghanistan. It was deadly and although early reports indicate casualties are as high as 200, the actual numbers of fatalities will be much higher after a few days once we recieve reports from remote regions of the country.
Child Foundation’s office in Afghanistan is assessing the situation. Preliminary reports indicate many buildings, including schools, have been destroyed. In one girl’s school in Takhar, 12 girls between the ages of 6 to 15 died and another 40 were injured.
Child Foundation has set up an emergency fund to help children who are affected by this earthquake. Please donate generously and help us help the children in Afghanistan. All collected donations will be spent on the victims of this earthquake.
